14. The Liberty Bell, United States
The Liberty Bell, an iconic symbol of American independence, was cast in London in 1752 and initially installed in the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall, in Philadelphia. The bell weighs approximately 2,080 pounds and measures 12 feet in circumference around the lip. It bears the inscription: “Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants Thereof.” The bell is renowned for its distinctive crack, which likely developed in the early 19th century after nearly 90 years of use.
