8. Polish Lancers (Uhlans)
Polish Lancers, known as Uhlans, were light cavalry units armed with long lances, sabers, and pistols. They played a pivotal role in the Napoleonic Wars, serving both in Polish and French armies. Their distinctive blue uniforms, adorned with unique facings and the traditional czapka (a square-topped cap), made them easily recognizable on the battlefield. Uhlans were renowned for their shock charges, effectively breaking enemy lines and contributing to significant victories. Their presence was particularly notable during campaigns in Spain and Russia.
