11. Tower of Silence (Zoroastrianism, Iran & India)
In Zoroastrian tradition, the deceased are placed on a Tower of Silence, elevated stone structures where the bodies are exposed to vultures. This ritual stems from the belief that both earth and fire must remain pure, so the dead are not buried or cremated. Though less common today, some communities still practice this ancient and deeply symbolic funeral custom. More info
