8. Language Contributions
Indigenous languages have left a lasting imprint on the English vocabulary, especially in place names across the Americas. Familiar locations such as Mississippi, Chicago, and Appalachia all have roots in Native words. These terms do more than identify geography—they honor cultural heritage and history, keeping the legacy of Indigenous peoples alive in everyday language.
