10. Starlite
In the 1980s, British inventor Maurice Ward developed Starlite, a remarkable plastic that could endure astonishingly high temperatures without burning or melting. Its potential applications ranged from fireproofing to aerospace safety.
Unfortunately, Ward never revealed the full formula, and after his death, the secret of Starlite’s composition was lost. Despite numerous attempts, scientists have not yet managed to replicate its extraordinary properties.
