11. The Railplane
In 1930s Scotland, George Bennie introduced the Railplane, an overhead monorail system designed for rapid intercity travel above existing railway lines. Though public demonstrations proved the concept could work, funding shortages and limited infrastructure support stopped the project in its tracks.
