“The Persistence of Memory” by Salvador Dali
One of the most famous Salvador Dali paintings in the world is “The Persistence of Memory”, which features very surreal-looking clocks that are melting. A lot of people think that there must be some deep meaning behind the melting clocks. But in reality, they were based off of melting Camembert cheese.
Dali once said that the clocks, “are nothing other than the tender, extravagant and solitary paranoiac-critical Camembert of time and space.” Dali would purposely give himself psychotic hallucinations by using drugs so that he could get into this state of being, and come up with completely insane works of art.
